Session 4 started at Focus on the figure Art School on October 29. Two students were painting last week - one in oil the other in acrylic. Others are drawing with various media.

Session 3 began on Thursday at Focus on the Figure. Three new students and a new model. We did a number of gesture drawings, one long pose focusing on the face and shoulders and a short pose.

A Free class will run at Focus on the Figure Thursday September 24 from 6-8pm at Xchanges. Present and new students are welcome to drop by for this free leson in life drawing or painting from a model.

Below are a list of basic painting supplies for students who wish to paint in the class. A list of drawing supplies can be found below in an earlier post.

Basic Painting supplies:
· Primary colors (red, yellow and blue),
ochre and titanium white in oil, acrylic
or water color
· Linseed oil
· Odorless or low odor thinner
· Stretched canvas, canvas board or
canvas paper (11inx16in or larger)
· Watercolor paper
· Palette and rags
· Empty containers
· Flat and round paint brushes – a large, medium and small

Session 3 starts at Focus on the Figure Art School on Thursday October 1st. at Xchanges Gallery. Classes are from 6-8 pm and run until October 22.

Session 2 starts at Focus on the Figure Art School on Thursday August 27 at Xchanges Gallery. Classes are from 6-8 pm and run until September 17.

CLASSES

Classes started on July 30 at Focus on the Figure Art School. There is interest in painting as well as drawing classes. I am teaching a drawing and a painting student. This week August 6 we will be drawing from a model, focusing on proportions, value, foreshortening. We will also explore gesture drawing at the beginning of the class.

I went to purchase my own art materials at Island Blue Print, Opus and Herald Stree Art World today and see that there are sales with very good deals at all these places.

· $120 for each session

- graphite pencils HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B- kneaded eraser
- pencil sharpener - compressed charcoal
- conte (white, black and brown/red)
- pastels primary colors, black, white and brown

- willow stick charcoal

- drawing board and two clips for holding paper to drawing board,

or large- sketchbook 8" x10" or larger

-18"x24" drawing paper

-grey, black or color paper (for pastel)

-newsprint sketch book or sheets (about 20 sheets)

Art supplies can be bought at any Art store in town.

Focus on the Figure: Eva Campbell's Art School and Studio

Eva Campbell is a visual artist whose paintings focus on the human figure. She holds an MFA from the University of Victoria (1994), and has taught at the University of Victoria, Vancouver Island School of Art and the Barbados Community College. She has also particpated in numerous exhibitions in Canada, Barbados, New York, Britain and Ghana.

She is the founder of Focus on the Figure: Eva Campbell's Art School and Studio located in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Art classes are for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
